  • Adoption of the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO)

The World Customs Organization (WCO) defines Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) in the context of it SAFE standards framework as: A party involved in the movement of international goods which is awarded a certification by WCO or other similar organizations for its operational procedures and tasks due to compliance with WCO or equivalent supply chain safety standards. The Ministry of Finance has formulated the Regulations Governing the Certification and Management of the Authorized Economic Operators and actively promotes the AEO certification system to bring Taiwan in line with international standards. Enterprises that meet the certi?fication criteria of customs compliance, financial soundness, and safety norms enjoy preferential treatment including low document review and inspection rates and Green Channel accelerated customs clearance. In addition, this symbol of corporate reputa?tion also enhances the corporate image and competitiveness and improves the efficiency of the international supply chain.

CPT Taiwan officially adopted the AEO certification system on March 22, 2013 and established a project organization, pro?moted the selection of members, and implemented educational training for all employees as well as risk assessment, internal audits, and hardware improvements. A Kick-off Meeting with business partners (contractors, logistics and storage providers, and suppliers) was convened on July 10, 2013 to affirm the joint commitment to the goal of the realization of an AEO safe supply chain. The goal of this initiative lies in the overall enhancement of supply chain safety and the strengthening of customs clearance efficiency to gain the ability to provide customers with optimal service quality. On August 29, 2013, CPT submitted an official application for an AEO certification to Taipei Customs.
